San Diego Union-Tribune reporter David Garrick did a great story on the highway’s history, how it wandered through the beach neighborhoods of Pacific Beach and La Jolla and some other great tidbits about this original roadway from San Diego to Los Angeles.
Hard to believe this was 9 years ago, but it’s a then-new ’07 Mustang convertible at Mariner’s Point in Mission Bay. I was testing the car for the Mustang Around the Bay column for the San Diego Union-Tribune.
A socked-in weekend and you’re headed to the beach? If you’re looking to drive and avoid traffic, this is the time to do it.
I haven’t seen much of Old Mr. Sun this week, as our pal the marine layer has kept coastal communities gray and cool. But it’s a great weekend to take a cruise on land around water landmarks and we did just that in a great Mustang convertible back in 2007. It was foggy even in August that year, so we can only hope that our May Gray and June Gloom doesn’t slip another few months.
