It’s one of the busiest car weekends of the year, with the Coronado Speed Fest on Saturday and Sunday, and the Wavecrest Woodies Meet in Encinitas on Saturday.
Oh, and you’ll need to find an AM radio or tune in online to listen to me with Dave Stall on KCBQ 1170 at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Coronado Speed Fest brings in vintage racers from all over the world for runs around a course set up on the runway at NAS North Island. While it’s great to watch the cars careening around the track, my favorite thing is visiting the pit area, where you can get up close with the cars and the folks who lovingly maintain these pieces of history.
Speaking of maintaining history, one of the nation’s biggest meetups of woodies is Saturday in Encinitas. The Wavecrest Woodies is back at Moonlight Beach for homegrown fun. Check out my video from the 2006 event. The cars haven’t changed much.
And Dave and I will be chatting about Joyride Guru books and who-know-what starting at 1 p.m. Sunday on KCBQ. Hope you can tune in!
