Here’s a great video and story from the Los Angeles Times on this year’s desert wildflower bloom. It includes a sharp video interviewing local Tom Chester, who’s been studying the blooms in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park since 2005. The story also provides links to bloom websites. A couple of spots are identified in the story: Henderson Canyon Road, which is off of the Borrego-Salton Seaway and is along my Beautiful Badlands Kindle e-book tour, and DiGiorgio Road, which runs north-south on the eastern side of Borrego Springs. The exact location of these flowers weren’t revealed in the story.

A good place to start in your flower tour is the park visitor center, on the west end of Palm Canyon Drive in Borrego Springs. The rangers and docents can give you directions to the hot locations.
