For anyone with serious, high-clearance four-wheel drive, this looks like fun… a drive-yourself guided tour of the Borrego Badlands, what you see from my Beautiful Badlands book for Amazon Kindle or Chapter 10 in Joyrides Around San Diego.
Here’s the listing for this Saturday, December 17, from the Anza-Borrego Desert Natural History Association’s website:
Dec. 17, Sat., 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
4WD Tour: Font’s Point, Vista del Malpais to Ocotillo Wells
Leader: Ed Pollock, ABDNHA Volunteer
This drive traverses some of the most scenic badland terrain in Anza-Borrego. Expect typical desert driving conditions, soft sand, badland canyons. Meet at ABDNHA, with a full gas tank, good tires, properly working high clearance 4WD, lunch, drinks, chair, and outdoor attire. No charge. Space limited. Call ABDNHA Nature Center 760-767-3098 to register. (If you are holding a place and cannot go, please call us far enough ahead to allow for someone on the wait list.
If you don’t have a high-clearance, 4×4 vehicle, Beautiful Badlands will get you to the view just fine with front-wheel drive.
