Restrictions on access to sensitive areas in California state parks — including the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and Cuyamaca Rancho State Park — are being proposed, but it’s unclear if any current public trails or roads would be affected.

A San Diego Union-Tribune story on the new rules mentions Little Blair Valley, which is included in the Off the Grid Kindle book. Beautiful Badlands visits Font’s Point in Anza-Borrego, while Curves, Dirt and Cuyamaca visits the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park.

Just a word on the Joyride Guru books… my routes follow public roads. The Off the Grid route through Little Blair Valley is very clearly marked; in fact, much of it is between rocks or short fences that clearly show the trail. The hiking trails I mention are also clearly marked.

As always, make your first stop any park’s visitor center. Staff and volunteers there will let you know what roads are open and their condition. These are remote, wilderness areas, so it’s always best to plan ahead before visiting. ⚙
