The great miniseries Feasting on Asphalt: The River Run with the amazing Alton Brown is running on the Great American Country cable channel and tonight’s episode took part of the Natchez Trace Parkway. Running from Nashville, Tenn., to Natchez, Miss., it’s a 444-mile long National Park. It mostly follows the original path used by Native Americans, then European settlers who used it to get back north after riding the Mississippi River south to the port of Natchez or New Orleans.
Well worth the drive (and the extra fee to drop off a rental car if you fly into one end and drive to the other), it’s a beautiful and historic trip. And it’s today’s 30 drives in 30 days.
