Of all the places with majestic trees and majestic mountains, the neighboring national parks of Sequoia and Kings Canyon must be at or near the top of the list. Just east of Fresno in the southern portion of the Sierras, it’s home to huge redwoods, including the General Sherman tree, considered the largest living thing on earth. This year was rather dry, but if you’re there early in the season there are plenty of streams providing beautiful vistas. You’ll get a neck ache from looking up at the trees, so the water vistas are a nice respite.
There is road work in the park this summer, so be patient but don’t miss Sequoia Kings Canyon»
