One of the first drives I did for the UT back in 2000 was a trip over Highway 94, the twisting state route that runs from downtown San Diego to Boulevard, near the east edge of the county. It’s freeway from downtown to the Rancho San Diego community near El Cajon; most of the rest of the way it’s a single-lane highway winding through mountain communities.

Back in 2007, I did a video of the route but never got around to doing any voiceover. The route is here, and enjoy the video as a teaser. Mostly everything still looks the same, except the legendary Dulzura Cafe has closed.
