For World Photo Day, I’ve dug out one of my favorite pix… a shot of Sunrise Highway, at the north end near Highway 79 in the mountains.  In fact, I like this photo so much, I’m going to make it the cover of my next Kindle book, covering Sunrise Highway.

It was late in the day in early December, 2007. I was finishing up photos for the Sunrise Julian story for my San Diego Union-Tribune “Weekend Driver” column. If I recall a storm was rolling in off the Pacific and the sun was going down.

The gold of the field was initially the subject of the photo, but luckily for me, a couple of motorcyclists sped by.
