Here’s a challenge for all of you with all-wheel drive SUVs and trucks… and even cars with front-wheel drive.

Take a trip up Palomar Mountain on Nate Harrison Grade. It’s a dirt road that runs from Pala Road up to Palomar Mountain. In fact, it’s the original public road, created by a guy named Nate Harrison, a freed slave who settled on the mountain in the 1880s.

He created a road and charged a toll for drivers and riders (horses in those days) to get up to the top.
