San Diego is a big city, right?
It’s also a county almost the size of Connecticut and within its 4,526 square miles are nothing but surprises. One mostly overlooked side of the county is featured in a San Diego Union-Tribune story: “This ol’ cowboy’s job: feed’em and breed’em.” It’s about the real cowboys who still work here and one of the ranches where they work.
I highly recommend you visit this area, the northeastern corner of the county. You can get there by taking my Palomar Kindle-book drive, Journey to the Stars, and continuing on SR-78, then going north on SR-79. I have another drive that goes right through Warner Springs online.
You won’t believe the wild areas that are just a tank of gas away.
