Talk about an old-fashioned, country celebration.

Today’s the day for the 10th annual Julian Dance and Barbecue, scheduled from 2-10 p.m. Set your GPS for the Menghini Winery, 1150 Julian Orchard Drive, Julian, CA, and hit the road.

Here’s what the website says…

The Julian Dance and Back Country BBQ is an outdoor event in its 10th year. The brain-child of the Sons of the American Legion in Julian, it began and has grown as an event to raise funds for Veterans, kids, local schools and other charitable organizations in the community.

From the beginning, the “Dance” has featured the best in country music and dancing on the huge floor and stage built by the Sons. Fabulous BBQ has been a keystone of the event with all the food cooked on-site in the Santa Maria style on an open oak flame.

The wholesome family event is staged each year in a beautiful mountain setting at the Menghini Winery. With separate events for kids in their own area the “Dance” is a throwback to a simpler time with twinkly lights and bonfires back-dropped by dark mountain skies. It’s an event where locals and guests from down the hill get together for a great time and raise funds for a great cause.
