The good news for me was finding this great story and video by Los Angeles Times auto writer Charles Fleming, where he takes the great road north from Ventura and Ojai, which I drove myself a few years ago.

The bad news was that Fleming was driving a Lamborghini Huracán and my trips were in a Volkswagen Jetta and my own Mini Cooper Countryman. Not that there was anything wrong with either the Jetta or Countryman, they just aren’t Lamborghini.

Then again, I was probably more comfortable in the Jetta and the Countryman.

Fleming starts at the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, which was the site of former Times publisher Otis Chandler. I haven’t been to it since Chandler sold his collection (shortly after his death in 2006), but I hear that the Mullin museum is well worth a visit.

I’ll leave you to Fleming and his impressions of the ride and his ride.
