A Meyers Manx, the McMillin family’s Beagle Two, the DeVercelly’s “Bull Fighter,” the Baillargeon’s Baja Bug, the Dirt Every Day Mad Maxxis Off Road Runner, a TSCO Racing trophy truck, and Steve McQueen’s 1970 Chevy Blazer are proof that there are “no roads required,” and are on display at Balboa Park’s San Diego Automotive Museum through Jan. 28.

Off-road racing is celebrated in the exhibit, which includes a display on the legendary Baja 1000 race.

Also included are a host of off-road motorcycles, including bikes once owned by movie stars and championship racers. Some of the motorcycles are on loan from the Kawasaki Heritage Hall Museum in Irvine. The bikes are featured in this Dirt Bike Magazine story.

Located in Balboa Park next to the San Diego Air and Space Museum, the San Diego Automotive Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with special holiday hours.
