Flower reports are starting to come in at the Anza-Borrego Desert Natural History Foundation’s Wildflower Update page. A few beauties and a bunch of buds are reported, many along the Borrego Palm Canyon hiking trail and spots off of S-22. Thanks to Fred Melgert for posting the beautiful photo you see here.

A report from about this time last year shows flowers along two trails in my Kindle books, the Blair Valley and a hike from the Font’s Point wash.

In the mountains, the Reader has a story this week about flowers along a hike from another Kindle book drive, up Palomar Mountain. When I went driving a couple of Sundays back, the poppies were blooming off of Japitul Road; I didn’t see any wild mustard yet.

Any way you look at it, our summer in February weather is back, following a brief rain. That means more green in the mountains and more color coming to the desert. Make it your San Diego day trip this weekend.
