I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since I took a then-new 2007 Mazda Miata on the great Pala-Temecula Road that crosses the border between Riverside and San Diego counties.

It’s great fun that starts at a Native American tribe’s big casino (Pechanga) in Riverside County and ends at another (Pala) in San Diego. But what’s in-between is great.

This drive was one of the final cuts I had to make in Joyrides Around San Diego… for sure, it will be in my next San Diego County book. But the Journey to the Stars chapter goes through Pala and has more on the mission.

In the meantime, get off the sofa and take this drive. Parts are even off the data grid!
