This space talks a lot about journeys, but many of you are looking for destinations. So here’s one for this Sunday: The Deer Park Winery and Auto Museum, located just north of Escondido next to Lawrence Welk Resort.

The three buildings of the museum house the collection of Robert Knapp, a Northern California vintner who came to the area in the 1980s. His special interest was convertibles and cars from companies that no longer exist. Robert passed away several years ago and the collection is now run by his son and other family members. It’s a lot of fun, whether or not you taste the fine wines.

For more to do, including taking a cool driving route through the nearby hills, check out my Crazy Couser drive; it begins at the winery.
