Cadillac at Hawk Canyon

It’s winter and that means it’s time for a visit to the desert. Here’s a great drive I took a couple of years back in the then-new Cadillac SRX crossover. It’s not peak flower season yet, but I did see a few blooming a few weeks back when I took the Mercedes ML350 (an SRX competitor) to Anza-Borrego for the upcoming Weekend Driver column in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The Caddie and any other SUV should be able to handle this trail, which is sand-only, and isn’t crowded with brush that could create the dreaded “Arizona pinstripes,” horizontal scratches along the side of the car.

So enjoy Cadillac in the Desert»
