One of the great features of our internet world is that from anywhere with a smart phone and a signal we drop in on another part of the world.

If you’re a train buff like me (see my Amtrak trip posts), it’s fun to check out its trains as they pull in and out of stations, something that’s easy to watch if you’re online at the right place at the right time.

This photo was a screen grab from the downtown Truckee, Calif., webcam as Amtrak’s California Zephyr stopped on its eastbound trip to Chicago.

I found the webcam on the Railserve website, with Amtrak’s live status also online. Just find a station, pick a route and away you go. Or not.
